Meeting Description

The 2024 Southeastern Chapter of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine Symposium and Scientific Meeting will be held in Hilton Head, SC on February 7-10, 2024 at the Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort . Come reconnect with your medical physics friends and colleagues, learn about new technologies and products, and experience the gorgeous coast!

Symposium

"Applications of MRI and Advanced Imaging Technologies in Radiation Oncology and Radiology"

2024 SEAAPM Symposium Agenda

This year's Symposium Directors are Megan Lipford, PhD, and Kathryn Mittauer, PhD.  In this symposium we will introduce the technical evidence supporting advanced imaging applications, with focus on novel techniques in MRI, CT, and PET based systems. The symposium will benefit medical physicists and other healthcare professionals who seek to better understand advanced imaging techniques and how they are impacting current clinical practice and future direction of cancer care. Commissioning and clinical implementation of these novel modalities will be discussed. Lastly, medical physics educators will benefit from a robust discussion of evolving diagnostic residency curriculum and nuclear medicine integration. Hosted by SEAAPM President Tomi Ogunleye, MS, the Symposium begins the morning of Thursday, February 8 and concludes at noon on Friday, February 9.  Lunch and Scientific Meeting immediately to follow.

This meeting has applied to CAMPEP for approval of 11 MPCEC hours.

Scientific Meeting

"The Pioneering Path: Medical Physicists Shaping the Future of Personalized, Intelligent, and Contemporary Healthcare"

2024 SEAAPM Scientific Meeting Agenda

The SEAAPM Scientific Meeting will be hosted by SEAAPM President-Elect Ali Fatemi, PhD.  Presentations of accepted abstracts as well as SEAAPM's MedPhys Slam Competition highlight this event. By attending this program, participants can expect to gain a comprehensive understanding of the presented topics and acquire the specific skills and abilities necessary to excel in their roles as medical physicists and related healthcare professionals.  The winner of the MedPhys Slam speaking competition for trainee members will be awarded a travel grant to represent the SEAAPM at the national competition at the 2024 AAPM Annual Meeting in Los Angeles, CA. The Scientific Meeting begins at 1pm on Friday, February 9, and concludes after the annual business meeting in the early afternoon on Saturday, February 10.

This meeting has applied to CAMPEP for approval of 7 MPCEC hours.

Hotel and Meeting Space

Click here to get a special group rate!  EXTENDED through January 15, 2024.

Note that after the cutoff date, (January 15, 2024 at 5pm EST) due to the hotel's high level of occupancy, especially on weekends, reservations will be subject to availability and at the hotel's prevailing rate at the time of the request, i.e. the group rate will no longer be available.

The Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort is a beautiful hotel overlooking the Atlantic, only 6 miles from the Hilton Head Island Airport and about 1 hour's drive from the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport.  It affords convenient access to a number of attractions, including shopping, golf, and of course beaches.  The hotel offers spacious rooms, all considered suites, with kitchenettes (includes mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker) and pull out sofas in the sitting areas.  The hotel just finished a major renovation and we will be amongst the first people to stay in the rooms!

Location Information

  • Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort
  • 23 Ocean Lane, Hilton Head, SC, 29928 US

The Omni resort has some golfing options, but Hilton Head itself has over 30 private and public championship level golf courses.  Or there are beautiful beaches to enjoy: the Omni has it's own private beach, or the famous Coligny Beach is only several miles from the hotel.  Even though the meeting is in February, the average highs are in the low-60's so outdoor activities would be very enjoyable.
