Symposium

"Future Horizons in Medical Physics: Navigating Bottlenecks and Bridging Global Gaps from Diagnosis to Treatment"

2025 SEAAPM Symposium Agenda

This year's Symposium Directors are Michael Howard, PhD, and Niek Schreuder, PhD. In this symposium, we will explore the future of medical physics with a global perspective, focusing on transforming patient care from diagnosis to treatment. Attendees will engage with forward-thinking strategies that identify critical bottlenecks, such as diagnosis delays, treatment planning inefficiencies, and technology access disparities. We will explore innovative solutions, including AI-driven diagnostics, advanced imaging technologies, and real-time adaptive therapy systems, with specific application areas highlighted for their potential impact. Medical physicists participating in this symposium will position themselves at the forefront of innovation, driving improvements in patient outcomes while contributing to a global effort to make cutting-edge medical physics accessible to all. This international collaboration reinforces the pivotal role of the medical physics community in leading this transformative journey. Hosted by SEAAPM President Ali Fatemi, PhD, the Symposium begins on the morning of Thursday, January 30, and concludes at noon on Friday, January 31. Lunch and a Scientific Meeting immediately follow.

This meeting has applied to CAMPEP and MDCB for 8.7 CE credit hours.

Scientific Meeting

"From Research to Reality: Medical Physics and AI Shaping the Future of Cancer Care"

2025 Scientific Meeting Agenda

SEAAPM President-Elect Anuj Kapadia, PhD, will host the SEAAPM Scientific Meeting. Presentations of accepted abstracts and SEAAPM's MedPhys Slam Competition highlight this event. This year, we will also hold a mentorship event for students and young professionals seeking mentorship from experienced medical physicists. By attending this program, participants can expect to gain a comprehensive understanding of the presented topics and acquire the specific skills and abilities necessary to excel in their roles as medical physicists and related healthcare professionals.  The winner of the MedPhys Slam speaking competition for trainee members will be awarded a travel grant to represent the SEAAPM at the national competition at the 2025 AAPM Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. The Scientific Meeting begins at 1 pm on Friday, January 31, and concludes after the annual business meeting in the early afternoon on Saturday, February 1.

Please see the SEAAPM website for abstract submission instructions for the Scientific Meeting

This meeting has applied to CAMPEP and MDCB for 8 CE credit hours.
